In a swift and forceful response to a series of high-profile crimes, Bihar Police on Sunday escalated their crackdown, killing the main accused in the sensational Siwan murder case, Sonu Yadav, in an early morning encounter.
Earlier, in the same case, another accused, Chhotu Yadav, was injured in a police encounter and admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

On April 29, BJP leader Manoj Kumar Singh’s nephew Harsh Singh and brother-in-law Chandan Singh were shot following a road rage altercation. Harsh Singh died in the incident, while Chandan Singh was seriously injured.
Police intensified their probe using CCTV footage and intelligence inputs.
Earlier, Ramdhani Yadav, the prime accused in the sensational Sultanganj shootout in Bhagalpur district, was also killed in a police encounter within 24 hours of the incident.
The encounters come in the wake of a series of murders, loot, and other serious crimes that had raised concerns over law enforcement credibility.
Reacting to the police action, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi backed the police, stating that those targeted had prior involvement in criminal activities and had long enjoyed protection.
Manjhi wrote on X, “The wrath of Samrat’s valiant force against criminals continues. Criminals are being eliminated one by one. I had said that everyone will be held accountable. Either reform yourselves or leave Bihar. Every crime will be avenged by Bihar’s Samrat.”
BJP MLA Anand Mishra said the latest encounter in Siwan demonstrates that the rule of law is being firmly enforced in Bihar.
He emphasised that the message is clear—no one is above the law, and anyone who commits a crime will face consequences.
He further stated that the crackdown is not against any caste, region, or religion, but solely against crime.
“A criminal has only one identity, that of a criminal,” he said, adding that strict action has become both necessary and unavoidable.
